Trailer Brake Repair — Part 1

A returning customer brought us a second trailer for a routine bearing repack. Once the hubs came off, the job turned into a complete brake replacement.

01

Inspection findings

During hub removal, brake shoe material fell onto the gravel, revealing serious deterioration. The electric brake wiring also had poor crimp connections. Fortunately, the bearings and races were inspected and found to be in great shape.

02

Planned repairs

  • Replace all four complete electric brake assemblies
  • Replace the wheel-bearing grease seals
  • Replace the existing brake-wire crimp connections with waterproof butt connectors
  • Retain the serviceable bearings and races and complete the bearing repack
